Ethelreda’s Way – Charles Moseley

Dr. Charles Moseley’s latest book, "Etheldreda's World: Princess, Abbess, Saint"

The Village Society is delighted to host Dr. Charles Moseley for a talk based on his latest book, "Etheldreda's World: Princess, Abbess, Saint". Delving into the life of Etheldreda, a figure of undeniable significance in an era teeming with remarkable women, Charles Moseley will provide detailed insight into this formidable individual.

Contrary to popular depictions, Etheldreda emerges as a resilient and influential figure, navigating the intricate webs of power as both a princess and an abbess in a landscape where ancient beliefs still held considerable sway. Through meticulous research and academic rigor, Dr. Moseley sheds light on the complexities of Etheldreda's world, offering insights into the dynamics of authority, the role of women in positions of influence, and the profound significance of saintly reverence.

As we commemorate 1350 years since the establishment of Etheldreda's monastery in Ely, Dr. Moseley's talk promises to transport us back to a time when the fabric of society was woven with threads of faith, power, and tradition.
