Village Memories – A collection of short presentations by local residents

Join The Village Society for the latest instalment in its, "Memories of Histon and Impington” series of talks. Following the success of our panel format last spring, we're pleased to bring together a new panel of four local guests. Each speaker will share their personal experiences of growing up or working in the community and after their stories, we'll dive into a Q&A session.

Guest panelists this year will be:

Gill Till

Gill Norden was born in Cambridge and moved to Histon in 1965, to do chemical analysis work in the Chivers Research Lab. Has two children and drove an ambulance for the Histon Day Centre for 15 years.

Rosemary Watson

Rosemary Love was born in Histon and went to the Nursery School and Junior School. Has been involved with the Methodist Church all her life, and a member of Histon Garden Club for many years. Worked part-time at Barclays Bank in Histon.

Roslyn Cresswell

Ros Norman was born and grew up in Histon. Left in 1975 and supported her husband, Peter in his career in the entertainment industry. Settled back in the area in 2002 and her daughter, Rebecca now lives in Ros’s parents old house in the village

Marian Cleaver

Marian (nee Robinson) moved to Oakington with her family, from Surrey in 1967 and then to Histon in 1977. Taught Latin and English in most of the state schools in the area, Including Impington, the Boys High School and Netherhall (Her husband taught History at Impington.) Served on Histon (& Impington) Parish Council for many years and a governor of Oakington Primary School. Trustee of the Town Charity and on the Community Warden Committee.
