Connecting Over Coffee and Millstones!
September and October 2023 brought our members together at a variety of social events including our second ever coffee morning. It was just as successful as our first with 70 members attending. This time we asked members to bring along old photos to share and a lot of fun was had poring over snaps and looking at historic images of the villages over time. It was so enjoyable to see such a strong sense of community with all seats filled for two solid hours as members came and went. Often there isn’t always the time to catch up at the end of our talks, so we hope these events allow a more informal place to share memories and make new friends. We will be hosting 2 coffee mornings next year and these will be added to our forthcoming annual calendar.
We would like to thank Pippa and Steve Temple who live at Impington Mill.
Their hospitality and kindness extended to organizing and hosting three separate member visits, each offering a unique glimpse into the Mill's intriguing history and meticulous restoration. During the visits, members were treated to a tour of the windmill, where they learned about its rich historical background and witnessed first-hand the remarkable restoration efforts that continue to be skilfully undertaken. The depth of knowledge and enthusiasm shared during these tours enriched the experience for all. In addition to the windmill exploration, the garden tour left a lasting impression on our members, who loved the insights into its development and wonderful autumn colour. The Society publishes a booklet on the Mill available for £3.00 see our website here.
